Aidan graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2015 with a 1st Class in BSc Hons Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacology) and was awarded the Undergraduate Pharmacology Prize. He then undertook his PhD training at Queen's University Belfast which focused on the role of Itch E3 Ubiquitin Ligase in Receptor-Mediated Endocytosis. Within the British Pharmacological Society, Aidan was the Society's first Trustee (Early Career Pharmacologist) on Council from 2016-2018 and then the Chair for the Early Career Advisory Group from 2018-2021. Aidan began his lectureship in 2018 and is currently based at Swansea University Medical School. Here, he has a lead role in the BSc Medical Pharmacology programme as well as leading the Swansea Worm Integrative Research Laboratory (SWIRL) group, which develops novel approaches to in vivo research and education. Additionally, Aidan was the recipient of the British Pharmacological Society’s inaugural Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Prize in 2020 and he was awarded the Rang Prize in 2021.
